Hiking again after 10 years of knee pain
I live in the Sacramento Mountains of New Mexico. I love hiking with my daughter and grandchildren.
I was unable to hike anymore because of the pain in my left knee was too great. I sought help from an orthopedic surgeon and he said the only thing that will help is a knee replacement. Even when I asked for an MRI to verify a possible PCL tear, he said it wouldn’t make a difference and really did nothing to help.
I was so discouraged and knew there had to be an answer beside surgery. I’m 66 and mostly retired.
I saw the class “Knee Pain Recipe” on Eventbrite and thought I’d give it a try. Seeing pictures of other knees like mine and hearing Renee’s journey I began to hope that I may be able to hike and be active again without surgery. I took the four week class and saw my pain lessen each week while getting knowledge on how to care for my knees for the rest of my life . Not only is the class personal, she became our coach and we could contact her with any questions. She personalized exercises and stretches for my pain and tightness. She also encouraged me be pro-active in my own healthcare. She gave me the tools to get my body aligned and strengthened. I am in Renee’s exercise classes to strengthen the muscles that has been atrophied or weakened for so many years due to my pain. I have started hiking again with my family.
