Born on the Eve of Magic
My story starts right at the tail end of October. My birthday is October 30, so I was practically born into the spirit of Halloween! Maybe that explains my love of celebration, creativity, and a little mischief. Any other October birthdays out there?

I was born in Rockville, Maryland. I am the middle child. I have one sister and three brothers. I attended Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville. Growing up, I was a sports nut! I loved softball and basketball, and I could hold my own in track—although Marybeth Munzner and Susan Roebuck always seemed to tie with me or finish one step ahead. Ask me how I still remember their full names after all these years!
Apparently, a little competition stays with you. 😂

I also played field hockey if you can image the only african American girl in the whole state of Maryland on a field hockey team. Later I played soccer.
But some of my strongest memories aren’t about sports. They’re about friendship.
From kindergarten through twelfth grade, it was the four of us: Germaine, Caddie, Terry, and me. we were called the "Fearless Foursome". We were inseparable. We laughed, partied, chased boys, stayed out late, and looked out for one another. Those friendships meant the world to me. Then, right before high school graduation, we had a falling-out over something that seems so small now. Back then, though, it broke my heart. We mended fences years later, but things were never quite the same. I still treasure the memories of those girls and the childhood we shared.

Another birthday marks another year of life, and I simply felt like sharing a few memories that still make me smile.
Happy Halloween! 🎃 I hope today brings you laughter, a little fun, and moments you’ll treasure for years to come.
